HISTORY IS NO MYSTERY

Torah is the common heritage of the Jewish people, all of Jewry stood united to receive the Torah (see Rashi Shemoth 19:2). YOU CAN GO HOME AGAIN, FROM WHEREVER YOU ARE

The Shabbat between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur is called Shabbat Shuva or Shabbat Teshuvah, the Sabbath of Return or alternatively Repentance. The widespread custom is for the Rav to address his congregation this Shabbat (See Mateh Efriam 602:41, Rav Schulchan Aruch, Orach Chaim 429:4) Further it is interesting that the content of this speech has changed over time.
