G-D IS WATCHING

The status of the Land of Israel in the Jewish psyche goes back to G-D’s promises to the Patriarchs and to Moshe (see Shemot 6:4). Therefore the basis for a national affinity to this particular place. Yet in Parshat Ekev the Torah reveals the land’s character, what makes it special.

WHO WE ARE, REALLY

The popular perception is to view the Shabbat following the intensity of the Three Weeks culminating in mourning over the Temple’s destruction and the reality of the nation’s exile as a time to take comfort and relax. However in less than three weeks begins the Month of Elul, the time of reflection and resolution so that the New Year to come can begin better. SEE CLEARLY SEE G-D

Rabbi Yehudah Chaim Cohen ZT’L ZY’A in Yehudah Ya’aleh observes that the first letters of the first six words in the Hebrew text of Lamentations (Eicha) spell the words Aivah Ra’ah, bad hostility.
