To Obey or Not Obey

The Torah as a D-vine document has application to all life’s situations throughout time and history. Recently, a group of IDF soldiers refused orders to expel Jews from their homes in Hevron. There can be no argument that obedience to orders is essential to a military organization. However, after the atrocities of WWII “I was just following orders” is not acceptable. As Elul Arrives

Elul, the month before the cycle of Judgment and Jubilation that is Tishrei and its Holidays begins next week. What singular thought could drive home the essence of this season?

THE WAY HOME

Rashi ZTV’L comments on 11:18 are fascinating. The Torah, promises the result of faithlessness, the embracing of ‘other gods’ will result in the land’s desolation and eventually the people’s exile (11:16-17).
