‘It was taught Rabbi Yossi the son of Rabbi Yehudah said an Ark of fire, a Table of Fire and a Menorah of fire came down from heaven which Moshe used as the prototype for their Earthly counterparts used in the Tabernacle . . .”(see Talmud, Menachot 29a). WHAT IS FREEDOM?

When events coincide the connection between them piques one’s curiosity. This coming Shabbat the Sidra of Mishpatim is read, as is Parashat Shekalim and the Month of Adar is blessed. To leave these three events as stand alones would be wasting a D-vine message specifically sent for this particular Shabbat for this particular year.

A PRINCELY NATION

The fascinating question is when does a family become a nation? While sheer numbers may rise a family’s status to a clan or tribe it would seem though what characterizes a nation would be something more. It would seem from the Sidra what brings people together as a nation is indeed something that transcends common ancestry or history.

FAITH COLORED GLASSES

B’Shalach has three major themes, the splitting of the Yam Suf and Bene Yisrael’s expression of praise (14:1-15:21) , The Manna (16:4-31) and Amalek’s attack (17:8- 16).

The three events each deserve lengthy discussion each in its own right.
