Harsh Words Against Sheitels.

Maran HaRav Yosef Sholom Elyashiv Shlita had some very harsh words regarding today´s sheitels, stating the women who wear them today are as if they go outdoor bareheaded.

The statements were made last week during the Rav´s daily Gemara Shabbos shiur the weekly Belze-affiliated BaKehilla reported.

The Rav is quoted as saying there are permitted sheitels and those that are asur, but today´s are strictly forbidden. He called "today´s?… Continue

An amazing story about one of the Mercaz Yeshiva boys who was killed

Posted on March 14, 2008 at 7:00pm 2 Comments

I found this email from a friend too important a lesson not to share with everyone.

This is what Rav Lazer Brody posted about one of the students killed in Merkaz HaRav. It is an unbelievable story:

Doron: Story of a True Tzaddik

Doron Mahareta of blessed and saintly memory HY"D was one of the eight Yeshiva students that were massacred last week in Yeshivat Mercaz HaRav in Jerusalem.

Last night, I paid a shiva (condolence) call to Doron's… Continue

A Man's Modest View

Posted on October 26, 2007 at 12:15am 10 Comments

Some time ago, I wrote an article about modesty. I expressed my opinions and the way I viewed modesty in a woman. This is an opinion, not halachic, expression from my male view of modesty. I thought I would share it and face the wrath of those that may have other opinions.

In today's competitive world, people are constantly looking for ways to draw attention to themselves. Unfortunately, many have chosen to display themselves immodestly. They are…

Meat, Milk and The Torah - Parshas Vayeira

Posted on October 25, 2007 at 8:05pm 2 Comments

In this week’s Parsha, we read about when the three angels came to visit Avroham Aveinu. There is a Midrash that relates an interesting dialogue in connection with their visit. Many years later, when Moshe went to the Heavens to receive the Torah, the Angels protested and wanted to keep the Torah for themselves in the Heavens. Moshe however, said, that since they had eaten milk and meat when they visited Avroham, they were not worthy of keeping the Torah. We see…

I had trouble posting on the other form --maybe it too my message. In any case, I was commenting on your practice of putting the other person "first" when responding:

>The thank you is about the other person. The
>answer, no/yes, is about us.

Sweet. A good practice.

Sometimes a person has to go through a lot of challenges that soften his heart to a point where other people fit in -- and perhaps even more so, to create a humility so Hashem can "find a place to fit" I'm wondering if that is the purpose of the forcasted freak-out of Gog Magog-- to get people to admit they need Hashem. This is hinted to in several pieces I've read.

Yes, it is Hollywood, but that is exactly what will appeal to the many that aren't so religious, but still care and the newer Baali Tshuvah. They are not as likely to read from the various sites. HKB"H has told us in many ways that one size doesn't fit all, except for the Torah and Truth. Even then, we have different perceptions.

Perhaps you should have one link to a page of "that" category of items? Regardless, we must keep trying.

Shalom U'Brochos

By the way, great picture of you. In fact, all your work that I've seen is very good. Delete Comment

I actually have a kesher with torahohr.net. We've been trading information back and forth for a while. I was contemplating putting their video on my site [they gave me permission] but my hesitation is that the presentation is Hollywood/dramatic, and almost masks the real message that we are in danger now. So, it's my intention to make a Gog Magog page, pulling quotes from various sources, but then to also give some guidance l'maaseh about what people can do to enhance their yiddishkeit and... uh... survive. Sounds awful, doesn't it? B'ezras Hashem all the yidden will rediscover Hashem and fix up their lives. To that end, I began another website about 2 years ago at 10easyThings.com, to give people an easy-in to mitzvos l'maaseh. I've had a good response to the articles, but keeping up and adding new material has been hard. By the way, Ben brought down another message yesterday, and I'm waiting for the Hebrew version. That would be message 28, and 27 hasn't even been printed up yet. Things are speeding up and heating up...Chodesh Tov U'mevorach... Dovid Gross

Also, Dani gave over a new message that is still being reviewed and translated. An early version is up on dani18 and on Geveret Nava's Dreaming of Moshiach blog.

Have you ever been to a Tikshoret with Ben? Here are some links to pages on my site that give an explainer:

Hi, I was reading your posts back and forth on the topic of the autistic students. I've been closely involved with them since around 9/11 when I was asked to build a website to post their messages. In case you've not seen it, have a look at www.jewishfuture.com. Dovid Gross, Beitar
