The Global Yeshiva

Torah & Judaism For Today's World

I have a secular male friend that I met in college some years ago. I'm not there anymore, but we still write. Recently, he was going through a hard time and wanted to meet me, like for lunch. I told him that I'm not comfortable hanging out with the opposite gender anymore(with the exception of dating) He wants to know an explanation for this rule. I'm not sure what to tell him. I can't give him the reason that his feelings for me might grow, he knows I'm not interested, plus his past experiences made him loose his romantic feelings for women. What explanation can I tell him instead?

Thanks for replying

I guess I can tell him that the general reason is that there is an energy there between the two genders, and eventhough he doesn't feel anything, I still want to keep this rule of not meeting in person.

Hashem will bless you for your efforts in this area. These things are so important and we need to protect ourselves.
