Shabbos: Ta’am HaChaim Bo 5772

Shabbos: Ta’am HaChaim Bo 5772(From the archives)Shabbos in the ParashahIn this week’s parashah the Torah describes in great detail the preparations for the redemption from Egypt. It is said (Shemos 12:21) vayikra Moshe lichol ziknei Yisroel vayomer aleihem mishchu ukechu lachem tzon limishpichoseichem vishachatu haPesach, Moshe called to all the elders of Israel and said to them, “Draw forth or buy for yourselves one of the flock for your families, and slaughter the Pesach-offering. MESSAGE RECEIVED !!!!!!!

After nine plagues which disrupted and devastated Egyptian society it is a fair question what did the Egyptians think of Bene Yisrael? Left to one’s own experience it would be reasonable to believe the Egyptians looked upon Bene Yisrael with a mixture of contempt, loathing and fear. Pharaoh’s defiance could be seen as being recklessly obstinate and thereby earning his nation’s scorn for squandering its resources for his own purpose. Or will Pharaoh be seen as fearless ready to defend Egypt’s…See More

Shabbos: Ta’am HaChaim Vaera 5772

שבת טעם החיים וארא תשע"בShabbos: Ta’am HaChaim Vaera 5772Five Questions With Behind the Scenes AnswersQuestionsAt the end of last week’s parasha Moshe complained to HaShem that He was making it worse for the Jewish People by sending him to Pharaoh. HaShem rebuked Moshe for questioning His ways and contrasted Moshe’s skepticism with the faith of the Patriarchs. Moshe’s behavior is difficult to understand. When HaShem instructed him to be the…See More

ALL G-D'S CHILDREN

The Exodus encompasses the total experience including the the Ten Plagues G-D visited upon Egypt . The Torah’s introduction to these events is fascinating. “And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and multiply My signs and My wonders in the land of Egypt. But Pharaoh shall not listen to you, that I may lay My hand upon Egypt, and bring forth My hosts, My people the children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt by great judgments. And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch forth…See More

Jerry Parker commented on sharona's blog post 'Kiruv and accomplishing two things'
Oh so true. As a BT myself, I know. The best kiruv is when one is mekaver others and comfortable; the lost want not to be proselytized as much as anybody else. Kiruv should flow naturally.
